Hello
My work is inspired by my coastal environment and, in particular, the fishing quarter in Hastings. This area, for me, is a microcosm of life, the contrasting themes of the human experience condensed within a few square metres. It has always been a source of intrigue, comfort, joy and entertainment. It is a constant, always awake, delivering a potent and routine mix of life and death, pain and suffering and sometimes jubilation. It mixes industrial and commercial might with exquisite and awesome craftwork, struggles and heaves under the belly of oppressive powers and shines effervescent against the backdrop of our sandstone cliffs. I love it’s beauty, what it holds for me, my family, our community and what it represents to us as a town.
